Racism vs Sexism vs McCain

Nobody asked me, but...

I don't want to turn this into a political blog but since the Presidents race is more blatantly about the president's race than any other election in our history, how could anyone who calls himself RaceMan not comment?

That said, I just read two thoughtful pieces on the subject of racism vs sexism in America that shouldn't be missed:

1. A short column in the Wall Street Journal, 'Nothing but Misogynists' that makes a pretty strong case against Mrs. Clinton being the best candidate to take on John McCain in November....using her own words about sexism.

2. An op-ed piece in Sunday's New York Times about a similar subject from a historical perspective; the battle between "white" women and "black" men for equality in America.

Check 'em out and report back to ol' RaceMan, OK?

BTW: I was just directed to another interesting piece on this subject on the Kansas City Star web site, here.

Lowell! Incredible! Your pen can't stop! This is great. Here I find myself in pieces, lying on the ground, grasping for air, trying to make it through on basic survival and can't (just now) and click! I'm slapped again with one of yr persuasive calls. Come out! Come out! Comment!

Christ man, race man, I'm trying to make some money somehow, some way, I will get myself out of this morass I'm in. But meanwhile, let me make a comment beyond how the overly qualified black man can't fit his square into ze round hole. Anyway, grasping ...

for one thing, those books you mention, the one's available on the godlike amazon are really interesting. The all-american white town concept. man, that could strike me to the bone (again) and wright me up (too bad this wright has replaced the more powerful richard wright - americans would never get that sprout into the church diatribe). And let's see, the other one, well, that would be a good one to attest to historical truths, something else the all american crunch couldnot presently absorb.

(Indeed, the all-american crunch, today's, on both black and white, is creating some cereal sans black, sans white, i think, the obama threadmill, it's good I believe - they say hiphop doing tis. I believe it is, but not yet sure. The concept of obama certainly saved itself with the white mama angle. again, this is good - right? there's nothing wrong in this, is it? not after, what 1969? don't let me say something wrong as one of the new integrators on the virtual all white small campus at that time, the honeycomb created ... i will never forget. stop!)

But, so now we have Stanton and Douglass. Just two weeks ago I deliberated upon an undeliberated high school nephew to get him to memorize that date of Stanton, 1848, that town, Seneca Falls so I could challenge him, well, why didn't his high school teacher emphasize the dates of the civil war upon his weakened non-existent mind. But I let loose, I didn't want no high school-less conflict.

Lowell, it's the graphics on that NYT page I like. Who does it remind you of but the 1930s, and the woodcuts, and Motley, etc., to Burroughs today? That's a great piece of art, the way it hooks up.

So what's the question? Do we hook up today? Is the American seam, seaming up the black and the white, the male and the female? Is this what de demoncratic party about? Well, I hope it works. It's a good foray into the history. As Douglass did make some speeches for the women rights, but the chains realistically kept him in place. Yet it is a marvel, a great chasm of history we are facing today. And 2-3 weeks before that chasm be closed. It would make a powerful unconquerable front, him and her knocking out the old underwear drawers that had the lock and key. Would chastity be redefined?

No, but racism would. We would knock it out of sight.

Only I've already read of powerful arguments of why this nail-scratching incredible intellect couldnot function as a second. Going all the way to her second half, too.

Yet I think they could and only hope she doesn't knock herself out the ring before the bell. The Wedding. 1969.

Lardunn,
I'm glad you got a chance to read those pieces and then took the time to make your comments. (some of which, btw reads to me like "non-fiction" poetry).

You say, "The concept of obama certainly saved itself with the white mama angle. again, this is good - right? there's nothing wrong in this, is it? not after, what 1969? don't let me say something wrong as one of the new integrators on the virtual all white small campus at that time, the honeycomb created ... i will never forget. stop!)".

I'm going to think hard about that and use it as the basis of a question I think ol' RaceMan should ponder.

And whatever you do, remember,
Stay strong. It won't be long.
